Chinese Herbal Medicine.

Chinese herbs are herbs in their whole form, the way they were intended to be ingested making it easier for the body to absorb and assimilate which is quite different from pharmaceuticals which synthesize isolated plant compounds. Herbal formulas are customized for each individual according to their unique root pattern and symptoms. They are able to nourish the body with nutrients it may be deficient in while helping to detox the body’s organs and tissues. Herbs work synergistically in a formula to help strengthen and heal the body.

Cupping.

A technique where small cups are placed on a person’s back and a vacuum is created within the cups that suctions the surrounding tissues into the cup. This suction increases blood flow to the areas where the cups are. The increased blood flow allows tissues to release heat. Congestion caused by toxic waste is brought to the surface of the body where small capillaries and the lymph system can carry away the waste. This technique will increase blood flow, expel excess pathogenic heat, and benefit the lymphatic system so it will be more effective at excreting toxins from the body.

Gua Sha.

The use of a massage tool to scrape the skin to improve circulation of soft tissues. Researchers have discovered that Doppler images showed an increase in microcirculation in the areas being treated correlating with decreases in pain. Gua sha is shown to influence an enzyme (Heme Oxygenase-1) which has protective antioxidative effects in cells.

Electrical Stimulation.

Where an electric current runs through little clips that are attached to acupuncture needles. This will provide a stronger stimulation allowing the muscles to release and reset. Many studies have shown the curative effect electroacupuncture has on inflammatory pain. It stimulates the release of your body’s innate painkillers (endorphins, dynorphins, enkephalin). It can also activate immune cells (lymphocytes, monocytes and granulocytes).
