Our Story

The bamboo tree grows unlike any other tree in the world. Most trees sprout after the first year. With a bamboo tree, you have to fertilize, water and care for it everyday for 5 years. Within these 5 years, nothing grows. There is nothing to show for all your efforts. Most people might give up after the first year thinking that the seed was defective.

On the fifth year, the bamboo shoot will break through the ground and grow 90 feet in 6 weeks. What was happening during those five years? The bamboo tree was growing its roots so that when it rises, it will not fall. This is symbolic of life. Without strong roots and foundations, we are not able to grow to our fullest potential. Tree roots are vital to a tree’s capacity to survive. It is where trees get nourished with water and nutrients. It is the most important part of the tree.

Sometimes self-care is hard and it's easy to put yourself and your health second to the everyday things going on in life. This is similar to ignoring your roots, your base, your foundation. Spending more time on caring for yourself is so important because it is from there that you will be able to live your life to your greatest potential.

Did you know that trees help other trees stand up via their lateral roots?

Trees on the outside of a forest are more likely to fall and they tend to grow shorter with thinner canopies than other trees.

The more we care for ourselves, the more able we will be to care for others.
